Todd Deaton Leo Johnson and his band, CrossCountry, who have a ministry to NASCAR enthusiasts, performed and shared the gospel at the Bring-a-Kid rally. Johnson was voted Christian Country Music Association music evangelist in 2003, and CrossCountry was named International Country Gospel Music Association’s vocal group of the decade for the 1990s, and a two-time winner of its vocal group of the year. Among those serving as Raceway chaplains for the event were Welsh Neck DOM David Dinkins, Grover Johnson, and Tom and Daniel Brown.

Todd Deaton Approximately 4,300 race fans attended the Bring-a-Kid rally in Darlington, sponsored by Welsh Neck Baptist Association’s Raceway Ministries. The May 11 rally, held immediately prior to the Diamond Hill Plywood 200 NASCAR event, featured a testimony by racecar driver Morgan Shepherd. North Greenville University president Jimmy Epting delivered the invocation at the race. |
