Molly Marshall chats with Marshall Blalock, pastor of First Baptist Church.

The 15th annual John A. Hamrick Lectureship was held Jan. 17 and 18 at First Baptist Church in Charleston. It honors the former pastor of First Baptist Church and founder of Charleston Southern University.

Its purpose is to “present the history of a distinctive Community of Faith by distinguished historians to its members and friends as a tribute to the life and contributions of John A. Hamrick, a remarkable servant of God and humanity.”

This year’s lectureship featured Molly Marshall, president of Central Baptist Seminary and a former professor at Southern Baptist Seminary. She also was guest speaker in 1998.
