North Greenville University president Jimmy Epting was presented the “Palmetto Patriot” award by South Carolina Lt. Gov. André Bauer at a Christian ministry scholarship fund dinner at the university Jan. 19.
“There is nobody that I can think of who answers a calling higher than his own than Dr. Jimmy Epting,” Bauer said.
Epting came to the university as president in 1991. Under his leadership, the school has moved to four-year status, increased enrollment by almost 700 percent, expanded degree program offerings from three to approximately 40, invested more than $40 million in capital improvement projects, added a graduate school and increased the school’s endowment from $3.3 million to more than $13.5 million.
