Fork Shoals, Beulah observe anniversariesPublished May 1, 2006
Fork Shoals Baptist Church Fork Shoals Baptist Church, Pelzer, observed its 225th anniversary and homecoming April 30. Established in 1780, members first met in a brush arbor where Reedy River and Big Creek came together to form the Fork Shoals, from which the church received its name. Nathan Gilstrap is the current pastor. Beulah Baptist Church, Hopkins, launched a year-long bicentennial celebration April 26 with a “birthday cake cutting” fellowship. On April 30, former pastor J. Thompson and former minister of music of Donnie Smith led homecoming services. John Motley Jr. is bicentennial director. Brad Bessent is pastor of Beulah.
