Thomas A. “Buddy” Sheppard

Thomas A. “Buddy” Sheppard, 81, of Bostic, N.C., a pastor who served churches in both Carolinas, died May 3.

A native of Gastonia, N.C., he was a graduate of Gardner-Webb and Carson-Newman colleges, and Southeastern Baptist Seminary. He also received clinical training in pastoral care at the Baptist Hospital in Columbia, S.C., and at North Carolina hospitals.

His pastorates included Glenwood Heights Baptist Church, Lancaster, and Providence Baptist Church, Hodges.

He served the South Carolina Baptist Convention on the General Board and the Resolutions and Nominating committees. He also served as a trustee of Connie Maxwell Children’s Home.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Williams Sheppard, two sons and four granddaughters.
