Hovie Revis HOVIE REVIS, retired pastor of South Main Street Baptist Church in Greenwood, has been called as interim pastor of First Baptist Church, Powdersville. He was president of the South Carolina Baptist Pastor’s Conference in 1972 and president of the South Carolina Baptist Convention in 1975. He has also been a member of the former Brotherhood Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention.
Shane Moore SHANE MOORE was called May 21 by Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church, Gaffney, as minister of youth, children and family life. A native of Fort Mill, Moore is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University, U.S. Air Force Officers Training School and New Orleans Baptist Seminary. He has served as interim pastor and youth minister of Bethel Baptist Church, Franklinton, La.; associate pastor of Heritage Baptist Church, Shreveport, La.; and campus minister of LSU Shreveport Baptist Collegiate Ministry. He currently serves as chaplain (1st Lieutenant) of the South Carolina Air National Guard. He is married to the former Ashley Meyers of Ponchatoula, La.
RICHARD McGOUGH is the new minister to students at Shaw Heights Baptist Church, Sumter. A graduate of Charleston Southern University, he was ordained to the ministry June 11 by his home church, Miles Road in Summerville. He is married to the former Carrie McClanahan.
Marshall Williams MARSHALL WILLIAMS, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Greenville, for the past 21 years, received the doctor of ministry degree May 13 from the M. Christopher White School of Divinity at Gardner-Webb University. Williams, who grew up in Greenville’s Dunean Baptist Church, formerly was pastor of Sweetwater Baptist Church, North Augusta, and First Baptist Church, Hilton Head. He is also a graduate of Furman University and Southwestern Baptist Seminary.
MICAH LANE has been called as pastor of Socastee Baptist Church, Myrtle Beach. He has been associate pastor for several months and will assume the senior pastor role July 2. He formerly was pastor at First Baptist Church, Aynor. A doctoral candidate at Southern Baptist Seminary, Lane and his wife Lynn, a native of Sumter, have three children: Austin, Arron and Megin.
Lynn Gardner LYNN GARDNER, pastor of Socastee Baptist Church, Myrtle Beach, for the past 12 years, has announced his retirement, effective July 2. During his tenure, the church has experienced continuous growth and building expansions. Beginning with approximately $250,000 in church property, they have now expanded to more than $5 million in property, with facilities to accommodate 1,200 people. Cooperative Program and missions giving have increased by 30 times, with more than 300 baptisms. A pastor for 41 years, he has served churches in North and South Carolina. He has been a member of the state convention’s Executive Board for the past five years.
Ronnie Grizzle RONNIE GRIZZLE of Garland, N.C., has been called as pastor of Thompson Creek Baptist Church, Chesterfield Baptist Association. A recent graduate of Heritage Bible College, Grizzle plans to continue his education at Luther Rice University. He and his wife Heather have two sons.
Charles Foster CHARLES FOSTER is the new pastor at Cavins Baptist Church, Woodruff. He previously was the pastor at Smyrna Baptist Church, Broad River Baptist Association. He and his wife Tina have three children: Darren, Stephen and Nikki.
ROBERT HAYNES has been called as pastor of Home Branch Baptist Church, Manning. A graduate of Mars Hill College and Southeastern Baptist Seminary, he had previously served as a pastor in Gastonia, Kings Mountain and McAdenville, N.C. He and his wife Wanda began their ministry at Home Branch June 1. |
