James M. Newman

James M. Newman, 82, of Abbeville, a Baptist pastor for more than 45 years, died June 29 at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Columbia. After serving his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy, he pastored churches in North Carolina, Honea Path and Ridgeville. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Abbeville.

Survivors include his wife, Jeane Ankerman Newman, three children, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
