Crossing Carolina for October 19, 2006

 

Steven Carr

STEVEN CARR began duties Aug. 13 as associate pastor of discipleship and evangelism at First Baptist Church, Sumter. Previous churches he has served include Crossroads Baptist Church, Valdosta, Ga., and West Hampton Baptist Church, Hampton, Va. He is a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Seminary. A native of Columbia, he and his wife Pam have two children, Matthew and Catherine.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Joey Leviner

JOEY LEVINER, a native of Summerville, is the new youth pastor at GracePointe Church, St. George. He and his wife Amanda have been working with youth for six years, most recently at Crossroads Community Church, Summerville. Both attended Charleston Southern University and are the owners of the Manna House Christian Bookstore in Summerville. The couple is active in the Summerville Youth Network.

 

 

 

 

 

 

AMANDA BANNISTER is serving at College Street Baptist Church, Walhalla, as minister to students. A graduate of North Greenville University, she was previously minister of youth at Gap Creek Baptist Church,Travelers Rest.

 

GARY COOPER JR. was licensed to preach Oct. 1 by Berea Heights Baptist Church, Greenville. His father, Gary Cooper Sr., serves as pastor of Berea Heights.

 

DAVID COBB began duties Oct. 8 as pastor of Peach Valley Baptist Church, Spartanburg. Cobb comes to Peach Valley from Grace Fellowship, West Palm Beach, Fla., where he was on staff as associate pastor. He and his wife Wendy have a 4-year-old daughter, Madison.

 

DAN GRIFFIN has been called as pastor of Harmony Baptist Church, Elgin. A graduate of Southwestern and Southern seminaries, he was most recently associate pastor of Beulah Baptist Church, Hopkins. He has also served as pastor of Memorial, St. George; Flint Hill, Fort Mill; and Red Bank, Saluda. A native of Charleston, Griffin is married to the former Edith Fallaw of Clinton.

 

Jeff Jowers

JEFF JOWERS is serving as youth and family minister at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Easley. A native of Columbia, he is a graduate of Clemson University and recently completed the M.Div. program at Columbia Biblical Seminary. He was an intern for two and a half years at SouthEast Community Church, Columbia, where he was ordained in May 2005.
