Moody declares candidacy for SCBC president

Mike Moody

Mike Moody, pastor of First Baptist Church in Honea Path for the past seven years, has announced his candidacy for president of the South Carolina Baptist Convention. The election of convention officers for 2007 will be held on Nov. 15 at 9:35 a.m. during the final session of the state convention meeting set for Nov. 14-15 at First Baptist Church, Taylors.

In confirming his candidacy, Moody did not announce who will nominate him for president. The Honea Path minister is in his fifth year on the state convention's Executive Board, where he serves as chairman of the Budget, Finance and Audit Committee.

Moody is the second pastor to declare for the position. Earlier, Tom Tucker, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Rock Hill, announced his candidacy for president.
