Clark wins bronze in halfpipe

- Listening to the music of Christian music artist Misty Edwards as she competed in the finals, U.S. snowboarder Kelly Clark won a bronze medal in the women’s halfpipe event Feb. 18 in Vancouver. “It was a tough final,” Clark said. “I couldn’t be happier.”

Former SCBC exec Carlisle Driggers: EKG requires persistence, patience

- Carlisle Driggers recently passed a small church that was taking on a new building project, and he noticed a sign that explained, “We’re building for kingdom growth.” Driggers, former executive director of the South Carolina Baptist Convention, took that as another confirmation that the message of the national Empowering Kingdom Growth emphasis he helped launch was indeed taking root across the Southern Baptist Convention.

- North Greenville University’s annual student-led renewal ran from Jan. 25-29 with the goal of challenging students to seek God more intimately. Speakers had a different approach to the theme of “Knowing God” when they addressed the student body.

- Robert Case, a member of Glendale Baptist Church in Spartanburg County and an admitted fisherman, came home from the lake one day with a nice string of crappie. He let the fish go bad, and he felt plenty guilty about it.
